Education and Licensure
Denise Daniel is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist and has been in private practice in San Francisco since 1995. She has recently added an East Bay location in Montclair Village, Oakland.
Denise received her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1993 from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She went on to receive her National licensure by the NCCA (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) and her Acupuncture License from the State of California in 1994. She is considered a Primary Care Provider by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.
Ms. Daniel is a member of the teaching and clinic faculty at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medical College in Berkeley (formerly known as the Meiji College of Oriental Medicine) since 1997. She has also served as a board examiner for the NCCA licensing exam.
Recently, Ms. Daniel was on a research team at UCSF meauring the effects of acupuncture on cardiac bypass patients post-operatively.
Denise has been a guest speaker at the Integrative Medical Forums held at UCSF as well as a guest lecturer at the medical school.
Denise has an extensive background in both Western and Eastern Herbology having studied privately with many of the great European and American traditional herbalists. She received a Certificate in the Foundations of Herbalism from the California School of Herbal Studies in 1989. Denise is a wildcrafter of Medicinal plants as well as a medicine maker in the Wise Woman tradition She uses both Western and Chinese herbs in her practice.
Denise has been expanding her expertise in the area of Japanese Contact Needle Technique studying with Anryu Iwashina from Japan. This technique uses Gold and Silver instruments on the surface of the meridian points rather than needles that go through the skin. The treatment initiates energetic flow through the properties of the different metals in contact with the energy of the specific meridian points.
For her pediatric patients Denise uses both Shonishin techniques as well as Japanese Contact Needling. Her offices are very welcoming to children and their family members.
Denise has also completed training in Japanese Shiatsu Massage and therapeutic Chinese Tui Na massage which she incorporates in her practice.
